Buying luxury watches in Thailand

Hi,

has anyone from Europe bought a luxury watch, Cartier for example(no fake!), in Thailand? Is it significantly cheaper over there than in Europe?

Imported luxury goods tend to have very high taxes in Thailand, and consequently be very expensive. I can not tell you for certain that a watch will be cheaper in Germany than Thailand, but every time I can recall comparing luxury item prices such as watches, cigars, liquor, cars etc., Thailand came out the same or higher.

The one possible way to get a good deal is on used watches. I suggest be very careful if you plan to try this, and I strongly suspecty you can find a comparable deal closer to home, where you can more easily get ahold of the dealer if you need to.

Thank you for your information. On my last trip to Thailand, I wasn%26#39;t interested in watches, but I noticed designer clothing to be cheaper than in Germany. I thougt, that might apply to watches too ...

I%26#39;m not an expert, so I would prefer to buy used watches in Germany at a reliable jeweller ...
