Am I looking for the impossible?

Hi there Khao Lak experts! We are looking for somewhere to stay for 4-5 nights in Khao Lak in mid-late Jan 2008. We will have had a few nights in Bangkok and in Chiang Mai. We are in our early 30%26#39;s, childfree and looking for somewhere beautiful to chill out on the beach reading books and maybe a few boat trips. I am SO confused by all the different options and advice would be appreciated. So, the criteria are:-

Budget: 3,000 to 4,500 THB

Type of accommodation:

- no large hotels

- preferably free standing hut/bungalow rather than part of a block

- beachfront: ie step out of the door onto the beach (this is V important to us!)

- aircon/fan

And I think that%26#39;s it. We don%26#39;t want to be too remote but on the other hand, don%26#39;t want to be somewhere with 200 other people.

All recommendations gratefully received!

Am I looking for the impossible?

No, you are not looking for the impossible at all. Have a look at this link for accommodation within your price range:

The rates being shown at the moment are Low Season but High Season are shown against most resorts when you access them.

The Ayara Villas have consistently good reports and the Beach front bungalows seem to meet all your criteria from mid-late January.

Have a look here at latest map showing location of all resorts in relation to main eating/drinking/shopping arae (Bang La On).

You may alsp want to try Gerd and Noi.

Hi,

I agree with you that maybe impossible because simple hotel / bungalow should be not that high budget as you request. I recommand Khao Lak Andaman beach resort just about 2,000 baht on the beach, relaxing and quiet. For more detail you can let my friend assist you or have enquiry to: www.khaolaktravelcenter.com/index.php…

That is possible.!!

By the way, I strongly recommanded. Pls do not hersitate to book because there are a lot of regular client who booked in advance.

Good luck

I ever gone to Khao Lak just once time but I really like The Hotspring Beach well-chosen and reasonably priced wine. It is beautiful and the infrastructure is great.

Vic%26amp; Andrew,

If you are still looking and not totally confused, just be aware that the areas recommended in the last two posts, Kho Khao Island and Hot springs Resort are not officially classed as Khao Lak.

The former is about 30 minutes plus ferry ride North of Khao Lak centre. It is a lovely little island with just 4 resorts and two restaurants, Personally I thought the Amandara Resort was the nicest when we visited last April.

The Hot Springs Resort is about the same distance South of KL just over half-way from Phuket airport. Whilst the resort receives good reviews and it set in a beautiful so far undevelpoed areas with some wonderful empty beaches nearby, there are no restaurants/shops within walking distance. The nearest town is very much a local Thai working town.

Good luck.
