Hey There
Can anyone suggest where we can find the bargains in Phuket Town. Heard the shopping there is much cheaper and thought we might check it out. Would also like to buy some furniture and ship it back, any suggestions??
Phuket Town Shopping
The cheapest and best shopping is at the Phuket Town markets which are held on Sat %26amp; Sun nights start around 5pm.This is where the locals shop, most stalls are fixed price some barter, we found it to be 30% cheaper than Patong for the same things.
As for the other big shops in Phuket town they are full of designer brand shops so are not that cheap.Tesco was probably the best as they had sales on.
Hope this helps

Where abouts are the Phuket Town markets %26amp; what would be the easiest %26amp; cheapest way to get there %26amp; back from Karon?
does Tesco sell replica designer goods?
Hi beachlover
If you are planning on purchasing quite a lot of furniture then it would be cheaper in Chiang Mai. Especially if you are looking for some traditional Thai style furnishings.

The night markets are on Bangkok Rd. We went twice, they are great. Sungalses 100bht, shoes and bags were great prices there and not much need to bargin on most things as price so low to start.
Ocean Plaza in phuket town was another place we found great for shopping fixed prices, the shops upstairs were great.
We hired a driver from Karon to take us, five hours all up from deaprture until we returned, he waited for us at each place. We paid (i think)800bht. Others may tell you that you can get a driver cheaper but we were pretty happy with aprox $30aud for 5 hours . You could get a tuk tuk for cheaper, and there is also a public bus which is very very cheap, depends which you want to do. It was great to have someone waiting for us and somewhere to put all the bags in between shops!
