any advice on things to do in phuket?

Hey guys,

I%26#39;m off to phuket in November 2007, this will be my second trip to thailand

10 nights with my boyfriend 2nd - 12th Nov staying at the Burasari. We are both 21 yrs old.

then off to bangkok and meet family over there then back for

7 nights with my mum and aunty 17th - 24th back in Phuket, Patong Beach staying at the Impiana Cabana. this part will be more relaxing, shopping %26amp; sunbaking and taking them to see Simon Cabaret and Phi Phi island.

last year i stayed in patong as well and absloutely had a ball. i went with a girlfriend but we mainly just shopped sunbaked by pool and beach and partied in bangla road almost every night. We also did Phi Phi island day trip, elephant ride, and saw Simon Cabaret.

As i%26#39;m going with my boyfriend this year i wanted to do a little more sight seeing as i really didn%26#39;t go out of Patong to see other places.

one of the days we also would like to go to other beaches to relax and sunbake not sure which beach would be best? karon or kata? or even somewhere really nice. any ideas?

is it worthwhile seeing/going to?

phuket fantasea show?

phuket zoo? i%26#39;ve heard mixed reports about phuket zoo

seeing the monkeys? is this at the zoo or like a special monkey farm

i never went into Phuket town last yr to do any shopping but have heard it%26#39;s much more cheaper. so we will go to the weekend market they have there.

and hopefully we will get to attend Richard%26#39;s Friday night bbq!! :-)

I would also appreciate any advice on any tours you recommend for 21 yr olds.

Many thanks,

izzy

Fantasea is a good show. we went to watch it make sure you up grade to the gold seats for a better view. You have dinner included as well which is really nice help yourself buffet. Service is a bit crap but everything else is excellent.

We went to Phuket Zoo. Looks a little bit dirty compared to UK zoo%26#39;s but animals all look healthy. They do Monkey, Elephant and Croccadile shows there. In the elephant show the young elephants paints you a picture which you can then buy for 200 Baht. Monkeys on the show are allowed to walk freely on the stage which is different to other shows we also saw.

Phuket Town is busy, shops great but also has market stalls that you will see every where.

Get a taxi driver to take you on a tour of the island they will take you to loads of view points, jewellery factories, cashew nut factories and pretty much what every you want to see for about 400 baht for the day.

Check out reviews on this forum for things to do there are loads to mention

Hi Izzy,

When we were in Patong last year we didn%26#39;t get out and about a great deal and have also want to have a look at some of the other areas in Phuket.

We have hired Mr Sam for the day, we advised of all the places we wanted to see and he has suggested the following trip, but he is very flexible and will tailor make a tour for you.

Pick up at 09:00 hrs from Hotel and drive to

* Kamala Beach

* Surin Beach

* Bang Tao Beach

* Nai Thorn Beach

13:00 hrs Lunch at Laem Hin Port and Maphrao Island.

* Sea Gypsea Village on Sirey Island

* Chalong Temple

* Rawai Beach

* Small View point restaurant

17:00hrs Back to the hotel.

Hello Izzy. There are some ideas for tours at the phuketalternativetours website. Enjoy your holiday.

Mark.

i%26#39;ll have a look :-) thanks Mark!

Thanks CooperUk and Sarah

Sarah how much does it cost to hire Mr Sam?

When Mr Sam took you to the beaches did you have time to relax and sunbake or is it more for just sightseeing?

Izzy :-)

We did similar tours with Mr Mor - and, yes, he can leave you somewhere for a while then come back later. I particularly enjoyed seeing the northern beaches, which are beautiful and very unspoilt.

Our itinerary with him was:

temple at Wat Chalong - he will show you how to pay respect to the Buddha

shopping in various places

visit to the hilltop Big Buddha, being built

lunch at Tungka cafe overlooking Phuket Town - really, really good food and cheap!

coastal road with beach stop-offs and shopping in Patong if you want

snack food from stalls at Surin Beach

viewpoint at Prom Thep - you can do this in the evening then go on to Rawai Beach for seafood on the beach

He can also take you to:

pearl farm

snake farm

crocodile farm

butterfly farm

gem stores

sea gipsy village

drive through rubber and pineapple plantations

night markets

He charges 1600 b for a day but has a large, comfortable car and is an extremely safe driver. Also speaks excellent English so you can ask him lots of things about Thai life.

I think most of the drivers recommended on this forum have similar itineraries, but you can tailor it to your interests. Good luck!

Hi Izzy,

If you type in search box

You will find heaps of information

Cheers,

Stewie.
