to go to chiang rai or not,

We are spending three to four days in chiang mai. We were thinking about spending an additional couple of days in the golden triangle but now thinking chiang mai will be enough??

Instead spend more time with excursions from chiang mai and maybe go to phuket for a couple of days?

any advice?

to go to chiang rai or not,

From Chiang Mai you can take tours up to the Chiang Rai area. Some of the tours involve the Golden Triangle area and nearby local villages!

They pick you up at your hotel and bring you back when the tour is over. Bring some light snacks, TP and handiwipes with you anytime you leave your hotel on a tour. TP may not be available at many stops!

Travel agencies act as the brokers for the tour companies. They will have a menu selection book of available tours and the price ranges. Advice and information is free. You can compare prices with other travel agencies if you want. Hotels sometimes offer these tours, often they are more expensive than what you can get on your own. Sign up for the tour one day, leave the following day - pretty easy!

If you need to extend your visa you can do that on one of the Golden Triangle runs to Chiang Rai.

There is a boat ride over to an island that is in Laos (no visa required) where you can try some ';snake wine!';

Have fun!

Talking about bringing TP, have you seen the new travel rolls of TP in the little packages? I just bought a couple for our trip. They should be great to use. They are really compact and are in little plastic cases.

Thank you infidel. It%26#39;s justs that some of the things to do close to Chiang Rai sound so interesting and the hotel we are staying at in Chiang Mai is the Four Seasons - very expensive. I wonder about taking a tour in which we stay over night somewhere in the Goldden Triangle and return the next day. I%26#39;ll explore that.

thank you for your help.
