Baan Khao Lak Resort

Has any one stayed at the Baan Khao Lak Resort yet?

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this resort. We are booked to spend 5 nights there in May.

Cheers

Baan Khao Lak Resort

I haven%26#39;t stayed there but have eaten there numerous times - lately as well as pre-tsunami.

The resort is completely rebuilt - wonderful bungalows - GREAT restaurant (try the Penang Ped [duck]).

Some photos and updates about the resort are at:

I think it sits on one of the best beach fronts in the whole Khao Lak area.

Thanks for that Ted. It looks wonderful.

122 days to wait.

Cheers

We have booked for April and eagerly await some reviews as well. From what Ted has been saying, it doesn%26#39;t sound like we can go too far wrong. Especially for the price. Have a great trip, and I will definately be writing a review so that you can get a feel for the place!

I am eagerly awaiting some reviews of the Baan Khao Lak Resort.

Will be sure to write when we get back.

Cheers

Hi all. My husband and I stayed at Baan Khao Lak Resort last week. We had a very positive experience. The beach is beautiful. The restaurant is good. We stayed in a sea view cottage and just loved it. very private, up-scale, and romantic. Very Spatious. Nice art, draperies and furniture. The electronics in the room are high end; you place your key card in a slot inside the door and all the lights and air conditioning come on for you - nice touch. Of course everything is new and clean. The landscaping is new and very nice; will be beautiful when it grows in more. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The pool is very nice. Breakfast was quite good as well with western and thai options.

The negatives were very few and more humorous than irritating in my opinion. The cottages and grounds are beautiful, but they are so modern that it was a little too easy for me to forget that I was in Thailand. In fact it looks almost exactly like a condo development in Irvine (a perfectly manicured southern California suburb). The bar tender did not know how to make a martini. The cord for the blow dryer was not really long enough to stretch to the mirror, so it was nearly worthless. There was a vase with old water in the room but no flowers. These issues were no big deal at all, but just sort of stood out as unusual in light of all the other fantastic features of the resort.

All in all I give it an A grade and would stay there again if I ever have the great fortune to return to Khao Lak.

Hi,

I%26#39;m about to book my holiday and was looking to stay at the Baan Khao Lak Resort.

Can you tell me how far it is to walk to the local shops and restaurants? I didn鈥檛 want to be trapped at the hotel if you know what i mean!!

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil,

We are booked here for 7 nights in September.

I believe its only a short 10min walk into town/main street where all the restuarants and shops are. There are also some beach restuarants nearby to the resort but I hear these will probably be closed when we are there in a few weeks. I think the busy season starts up again around Oct/Nov.

When are you going??

You can see all the hotel locations on the maps here-

Bang La On is what is normally referred to as Khao Lak centre. The majority of shops, banks and restaurants are here, but dont miss out Bang Niang where there are also some good restaurants and Pak Weeb/Bang Sak beaches which are best for beachcombing. There are plenty of local taxis, so getting around is no problem.

Thats great, thanks. We are looking at going to Baan Khao Lak in late Oct.

We are looking at booking our holiday through Kenwood Travel. Has anyone had any experiences booking with them?

Thanks N
