merlin beach hotel

Hi

can anyone tell me what this is like for kids and if there are any beach restaurants near this resort. We are travelling with 3 young boys 10 yr and 1 x 7 yrs. We would also like to know if anyone can tell us if the beach is safe to swim in October.

There is a great pool for kids and kids club. The beach at Merlin itself is safe and nice but very tidal and not sandy under the water but very rocky, not really suitable for kids or adults. As for restaurants, apart from the 3 or so at the resort there are none nearby, as resort is out on its own. There is a shuttle to and from patong or a tuk tuk for 200thb and that takes about 8 minutes. Plenty of eats there.

As much as I love the merlin if I was going with our daughter I would choose the Holiday Inn. Great for kids and close to all restaurants as in heart of patong, but you wouldnt know it! And no relying or shuttles to get a bite.

They have rooms with bunks, playstations and toys etc for the kids, really kids friendly. Good Luck
