Wheelie suitcase or backpack for Thailand

What would the experienced travelers recommend for a month long trip around Thailand? We%26#39;ll be packing light, and wheels are always nice to have, but are they practical on a trip from Chiang Mai, to Bangkok and Phi Phi by air and rail? Thanks!

Lots of steps, and bumpy pavements.

Wheels are nice, but have limited use.

Still, I personally prefer a suitcase to a backpack.

If you plan to travel round Thailand, I recommend backpack

HI

I use a convertable wheeled backpack.

It has wheels for when you find smooth surface like airport

then back pack straps for hopping around the islands and traveling on bus and trains.

check REI for deals and specs

Backpack.

Travel light - if you do need anything, you can buy there.

That means that one pair of sandals is OK, 4 tshirts, no soks, one towel, toothbrush, and you%26#39;re on your way.

Make that a small backpack.

Backpacks are so much more convenient: you can sit on them, tie things to them, throw them on a bus, fling them on a boat, and carry them easily. And they won%26#39;t break.
