the hotel may charge a premium to book. if you don%26#39;t want to do that then take the BTS from National Stadium (next to your hotel) to BTS Saladaeng (Silom). change here to the MRT to Hualumphong. Follow signs to train station (about 300m) and go up the escalators to the ticket office. there are a few assistants outside the ticket office who can help you.

depending on the day of travel, trains can be booked up weeks in advance. most people travel overnight to CM. friday is the busiest day and sleeper compartments tend to be fully allocated weeks in advance, however there may be the odd one available.

i would e-mail them before you leave australia to see what is available.

Thanks so much for that info we plan to travel Sept 9th which is a Sunday evening so we will take your advise and email prior to leaving Australia anyway, sounds like its to far to walk from Hotel to Station would that be correct we have a Nancy Chanler map and it only looks like a couple of blocks???

I feel walking from your hotel to Hua Lamphong is better. The area around HLP looks a bit old and busy but I think it%26#39;s safe to walk in day time.

It%26#39;s like from Asok BTS to Chitlom BTS which is very near. I walked this distance almost everyday when I was there.

Looks like you%26#39;ll walk on Soi Chula 2, find a road to cut to Soi Chula 22 and approach Charoen Muang Rd. You%26#39;re almost there.

Instead of walking to National Stadium or Siam BTS Station, you can make 1/3 of the distance PP and HLP.

A motorbike man may charge you 30-40 Baht.

it%26#39;s definitely not within walking distance i can assure you of that. the nancy chandler maps are not to scale. walk would probably take an hour, including having to cross several busy major roads and intersections.
