I am heading to Bangkok in October. Can someone please advise me on the cheapest way to ring back home to Australia on my mobile.

Bring you mobile and just buy a Thai Sim card here. You can even get your mobile unlocked easly at many phone places or upstairs the MBK shopping center.
Then just dial 009 and the country code. etc......
Sim cards are about 200 baht ($8 AU) and then you can buy credit in small intervals. Texting and calls are easy.
