Baan Laanta Ao Kantiang, Ko Lanta

I have read a string of messages about the above and wondered if anyone has any more comments on this resort or its location.

Is there a pool at Baan Laanta? What facilities are at Ao Kantiang? Are there many shops, restaurants, bars? We are looking for something quiet but within walking distance of a few facilities.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Baan Laanta Ao Kantiang, Ko Lanta

Hi

No, we didn%26#39;t stay there in the end but we did stay on Kantiang Bay. We had one night in Lanta Marine Park View, which I wouldn%26#39;t recommend for the reasons in my review of it. We ended up at the Pimalai, which is in a totally different price range but a great hotel (I did a review of this too).

At for Baan Lanta, we ate there a number of times as the food was really good (in our opinion it was better than the Same Same but different, at the other end of the beach, which gets rave reviews). We also rented a motorbike from Baan Lanta. The reception were quite helpful and the restaurant staff were good.

There is a pool there but Baan Lanta itself was not at all what I expected. It is on quite a tight plot between Lanta Marine and another hotel. I know from some people who stayed at Baan Lanta that you want to avoid rooms to the back of the plot, as they experience road noise. The rooms at the front look nice but you need to be aware that there are a number of bars nearby (which is fine if that%26#39;s what you want). There is Baan Lanta%26#39;s own bar, one at Lanta Marine (which kept us awake when we stayed there) and one a short way up the beach. They can go on quite late at night.

As for restaurants, I think there are 4 along the beach and a number (much more expensive) in the Pimalai.

There are a very small amount of shops for limited provisions, but on the whole we travelled into the nearest town (where there is also a well stocked off licence).

Hope that helps.

Sarah
