You%26#39;ll definitely have to take a taxi i think. The trouble with this is if you go for the opening time you will get caught up in rush hour traffic.

to avoid this you could walk from Banyan Tree to BTS Saladaeng (10 mins) then get a train from here to BTS Saphin Taksin (10 mins). From here you get the ferry to Pier No.9 (20/25 mins), then walk to Palace (10 mins). Including changing modes of xport, journey time about 70-80 mins max. So if you leave your hotel about 0730 you should get there by 0900 easily. i would then come back by taxi.

thanks for that, i%26#39;ll definitely go by skytrain and boat there. could i also ask another quick question please, how long would the taxi take to get back, assuming we go back to the hotel sometime around noon? thanks for the helpful info!

Allocate about an hour just in case traffic is heavy. A note of caution - most taxi drivers will offer you an inflated flat non-meter fare. it%26#39;s up to you whether you want to pay this. it may depend on your time constraints. it%26#39;s possible it may take a few taxis before you find one that will use their meter.

Also be aware there are many thais outside the palace who will tell you that it is closed. it isn%26#39;t. they will suggest to go to a jewelery shop instead for a once in a lifetime sale. they get a commission. just politely say no and head for the palace. tickets cost 250B.
