Clear Customs for Stop Over?

Just wondering please...do we have to clear customs and immigration for a two hour stop over in Bangkok when flying from Sydney to Rome?

and...

We%26#39;re going Business class on Thai Air, is there a transit lounge to wait in during those couple of hours?

Many thanks :)

Clear Customs for Stop Over?

No... you don%26#39;t leave the transit area (clear immigration)...

Yes, there are lounges.. lots of duty free shopping.. and restaurants etc.

I am not sure how being in transit goes but do do some research on your duty free and the new 100ml rules.. whether Bangkok will let you take it through to Rome./

Ahh..yes I will check.

Its a late stop over, I think 9:50pm to Midnight, fingers crossed there will be a few shops open still!

many thanks :)

I don%26#39;t think they ever close.. Lots of flight in and out around midnight.

any duty free alcohol or any other liquid purchases (including fragrances i think) will be taken off you if you are going to an EU country. the EU rules are very strict. check their website for details.

anyway all the duty free shops here are way overpriced. i would save your money either for brisbane and/or rome.

Bangkok duty free overpriced?.. :-).. you must be kidding?..... not as much as Brisbane.. that%26#39;s for sure...

As for what%26#39;s allowed on your flight... ?.. They main issue is not the flight that your about to board.. that will usually be ok.. the issue is if you need to transfer to a future flight... Only duty free bought for any one particular flight can be brought on board.. If you have further flights.. you need to put it in your checked in luggage... As for duty free in Rome... most European duty free is way above what we can buy it for in asia.. basically not worth bothering...

sorry, but your wrong. i%26#39;ll concede that cheap spirits and ciggies are just as cheap. but if you want quality spirits e.g. bombay sapphire gin, real russian produced vodka (not the polish muck), premium whiskies (laophraig) then BKK is not the place. i do 8 trips a year between bangkok and brisbane/sydney/melbourne/canberra for work purposes and brisbane is just about the cheapest followed by melbourne. ditto for fragrances.

I beg to differ.. Right now, due to favorable exchange rate, Singapore is about the cheapest.. not sure when you were in Brisbane/Sydney last.. but I can assure you that BKK is cheaper (on most items)... alcohol and smellies included.
