April Honeymoon - Phuket vs Maldives

Hello,

We are considering going to the Maldives or Phuket for our honeymoon next April.

I haeve a few questions:

1. Is the Club Med worhtwhile?

2. I have heard the beaches are a bit dirty and we want somewhere nice.

3. What hotels would you reccommend for honeymoon (not too pricery) - would LOVE a package?

4. Is there anything to do there apart from go to the beach? We want some nightlife and possibly some shopping etc etc...if not where do you reccommend?

Thanks

Bec - I%26#39;ve always said my honeymoon will be in the Maldives staying in a water bungalow overlooking the ocean - very romantic huh?

Having been to Phuket several times but never to the Maldives I%26#39;d say leave Phuket for after you%26#39;re married and want a fun semi tropical holiday with lotsa nightlife and shopping and nice stopover in Bkk. I think the Maldives is the more special romantic option...

April Honeymoon - Phuket vs Maldives

We went to the Maldives for our honeymoon and stayed at Club Med around 12 years ago. The maldives were beautiful and the snorkling was fantastic. Having said that - there wasn%26#39;t actually much to do except go snorkling or lie on the beach. I should clarify - there were water sports, water aerobics and one day we took a boat into the capital Male. But to compare it to Phuket, where there are a million different bars and restaurants and you can hire a car to travel the island (instead of being on 1 island with a handful of restaurents) is difficult to do.

The great think about Phuket is that you can have the best of both worlds - you can stay somewhere quiet and intimate or be in the middle of the action or a combination of both.

I think the maldives would be great if you wanted to spend the majority of the time in each others company with little other distractions- which I suppose people want on a honeymoon. But hey - you%26#39;ll be married, you%26#39;ve got the rest of your life to spend with each other!!

This is just my opinion - I am sure you will get plenty of differing views.

What ever you choose have a fantastic honeymoon

Sara
