Hi! I going to Thailand for the first time and will be in Chiang Mai during the time of the Full Moon Festival. We will be there for four nights and are going to two nights trekking and two nights at Yaang Come in Chiang Mai. Not sure if this festival is great and where it is best to experience it - in Chiang Mai or while trekking?? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

during your 2 nights at the Yaang Come you will have time to appreciate the festival. It%26#39;s an evening thing. You won%26#39;t be far from the Nawarat bridge a good place to take the measure of the event.

Every year we have friends that visit us stay at one of the high rise hotels for the festival with a river or North facing window or balcony from the upper floor. This way we can view the fireworks, khom Loy lanterns and festivities along the river etc.
A few choices are:
The Pornping Tower (our favorite for the view)
Diamond hotel (new wing)
Royal Lanna hotel
We go down to the river first and when we get tired of the action we then head for the hotel rooms and watch the show, breathtaking.
