I swear I read that there were flighs on Nok air between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, but when I booked my hotel, they asured me that there were no flights and we would have to drive the four hours.
Has anyone rented a car in Chaing Mai for the drive? Has anyone flown and if so, how???

SGA flights are on a 12 seater single propeller plane. Great to enjoy the view.
But for 250 baht you can take a comfy VIP bus and you%26#39;ll be in Chiang Rai in a little over 3 hours.
Driving yourself is tiring, there is a lot of mountain road and a lot of overtaking to do (trucks, buses) in sometimes tricky conditions. You need to be a confident driver. And apart from stops at food stalls along the road, not muchto do. The interesting things are North of Chiang Rai.
