patpong

Hi me and 5 other girl friends will be spending the weekend in bangkok and we were wondering where in patpong we could see a show without the hassles of worrying over being ripped off!

thanks!

patpong

you probably can, but it would be very hard!! People will try to rip you off everywhere in patpong!

patpong

A show? What kind?!

The hardcore ones are no longer available; the Government clamped down hard about three years ago.

Not much left. The usual tepid soap and showers, maybe. Nana Plaza still has a few; try AngelWitch.

But, overall, do not expect much.

You do have to watch the shows as the ushers tell you no service charge and once you order your drink you are told the first drink costs 300 baht. There are a few bars which are usually OK, the King%26#39;s/Queen%26#39;s Castle. Beware of being short changed when paying for drinks.

There is a good drinking place, O%26#39;Leary%26#39;s by the Sala Daeng Skytrain station (for Silom) which has live entertainment (actual entertainment) cheap drinks and cheap food. When I last visited they had a Thai group who not only sounded like the Beatles but even bore a passing resemblance to them.

The market/shows start around 8 pm.

There are no shows in that over hyped Patpong area. All you have are pole dancing in the many bars at street level. DO NOT go to any bar upstairs, DO NOT go to any bar without a prominent business sign , DO NOT follow any tout that promises a special show and lead you to a seedy , dangerous bar that will cheat you.

Please go to Angel Witch where there is a show at 9.30pm. No nudity here, no smut, but you witness a well co ordinated show.

Totally enjoyable for some people. Go to Nana Plaza, enter and to your left is a flight of stairs, go up one level, turn right and look for Angel Witch bar. No entrance fees but you need to buy a drink. Beer is 130 Thai Baht. No rip offs here. Its perfectly safe. The bar is owned by a German guy. No photography allowed.

Or go to Soi Cowboy ( near Asoke BTS ). Enter the area, 2nd or 3rd bar to your right have some shows ( the seedier type ). Again, no entrance fees. No photography allowed.

Or go to Mambo or Calypso for lady boy shows.

Or stick to Thai cultural shows.

Hello :

Why go to Patpong ? I have been in Bangkok May, 2007 and

did not spend time in that area .

Why bother with Patpong? Soi cowboy or the nana plaza are much better alternatives, also not as seedy! But be wary of touts and tuk tuk drivers wanting to show you things, or a favourite saying is '; Speical Goverment Sale'; were they%26#39;ll offer to get you gemstones at a reduced price! Just be wary of these scams and its not always the Thai%26#39;s that offer deals like these, I encountered plenty of well dressed westerners trying the same thing too.

Hello :

I must agree with monkie 7 here. If you really want to visit

the bar scenes in Bangkok then NEP %26amp; soi Cowboy are your

best bets . There are some Scam artist as always trying to

Show You something , just don%26#39;t pay attention to them Thai%26#39;s

locals or western guys touts . I stayed in the Majestic suites

May, 2007 and totally enjoyed the atmosphere around here.

Enjoy your trip,
