Speed boat from Ao Nang

Can anyone recommend speed boat company in Ao nang area or will do pick up from Ao nang? I%26#39;m interesed in renting one to go to Phi Phi. and bamboo island.

Also, from Ao Nang to Hong islands, Is long tail boat ok? If you have done this, how long did it take? I would appreciate any suggestions.

We did a speedboat trip and they picked us up from CKBR and dropped us back there. We went to Bamboo, Phi Phi, Monkey Bay, Maya Bay it cost 1200 baht and included lunch on Phi Phi. We booked at one of the travel agents along the beach road, think it was Alan Travel??

the speed boats are usually classed by motors

from two up to four

I like the smaller speed boats less people they all are about the same speed.

any where from 1000 to 1800 baht per person if doing set tours

I did tour with ao nang speed boats we did bamboo island Phi Phi and Phi Phi don and had a great lunch the captain and crew were great. I think i payed 1200 baht for the day.

if you want a speed boat for just you around 20,000 baht

If going on a tour book the day before or sometimes early in the morning if worried about weather

If booking a boat for just you make sure you see the boat before you pay and try and get everything in writeing

when you haggle for price smile and be friendly it does help

last time I was in Phuket I was at a tour shop the people at the next desk wanted a boat for the day for just their family. they were loud and abusive and kept trying to get the price down and kept talking

about how backwards thailand was and in their country everything was so much better.

they finally agreed upon price and left.

After they left my thai fiancee%26#39; heard the owner say in thai

';make sure they get worst boat and captain';.

sawaddeeka, thanks for your reply. the tour rate is very convincing coz it is soooo much better than private tour. actually i don%26#39;t mind at all to go with others (small group). It%26#39;s just that I want to leave a little bit early and avoid massive crowd at places ep. at maya bay. I guess i mean more flexibility for time and destinations. If I go in low season, there%26#39;s no doubt i go with tour. I still can%26#39;t decide though coz private tour is soo expensive too. thanks again :)

when are you going.

the long tail boats are great if you want to check out the nearby islands like chicken island You negoiate the price and you can get the boat for all day any where from 800 to 1800 baht depending where you want to go..

a good day trip is to pack a lunch and umbrella ';for sun'; then go to chicken Island for swim sun and snorkle the boat will wait for you how ever long you want anything farther than 45 mins to an hr in a long tail boat is too long LOL

I would rather splurge and spend the money on a private sail boat then a speed boat.

If I am traveling with friends 4 or more then we try and get a sail boat for the day just for us if you split 4 ways not that much.

if you go to Ao Nang take a short trip to Railay beach for rock climbing. a must do if you are young or young at heart.

sawaddeeka, thanks so much for your reply. i%26#39;m going in mid november, hoping for good weather. You re right. Sharing with couple of friends is the perfect way to do. However it%26#39;s only the two of us this time :(

Rock climbing is very cool. My close friends also did that in Railey last year and sent me pics. They were so brave, i don%26#39;t think i can do that but it%26#39;s fun to see others. thanks again :)

We just aalked along beach road and booked for a couple of days later. There were about 14 people in total on our boat. It was a great day but I don%26#39;t think you would miss the crowds at Maya Bay, very disappointing, nothing like the film so don%26#39;t get your hopes up too much.

I rented a speed boat last november to do bamboo island and phi phi for just the two of us. We stayed at the Rayavadee and for there own boat wanted to charge us 21000 baht. We had been on a longtail boat with the same guy for a few days going to the different off shore islands and to the hongs he said he had a friend with a speedboat and instead of paying a crazy price he could arrange it . I was not all together happy a bit dubious but he rang his friend quoted us 12000 baht and would pick us up next day at 09.00. They asked for deposit but we said no would pay on the day. Next morning we went down to the beach fantastic twin engined speedboat called Nangoon two crew boat was so clean and the whole day was fantastic took us to deserted beaches great snorkelling spots we took a chance and saved a bundle. I am sure if you ask the longtail boat guys someone will know how to cantact to arrange. Our longtail boat guy worked from phranang beach over at raillay his number was 606 and his girlfriend did manicures from that beach with her mother. They will pick you up from where ever you want. We were out for the whole day and returned about 17.30 hrs

Also our boat guy took us to the hong islands by longtail can not remember the length of time might have been 1.5 hours. At that time of year november it was calm seas and fine by longtail it was comfortable enough. We did all the great beaches out there you can see my pics one of the hong islands under my hotel review fior the rayavadee.If you would like anymore info just ask.

You will have a fantastic time what ever you do. My advice is shop around as i booked first thing last year with my tour operator rep and then found it 1000baht cheaper on the beach. Nobody can describe the scenery to you as it is just awesome it really is a very special place.
