Me %26amp; my boyfriend are meeting up with mates (a couple with a 1 year old) in Phuket for xmas %26amp; new year and need some advice on accommodation.
Our requirements:
1. Right on the beach with ocean views or a very short stroll from the beach
2. A quiet area but within a long stroll or short taxi ride from bars, restaurants, shops %26amp; activities - snorkelling %26amp; diving
3. Budget - not an issue, but we would rather have the character %26amp; authenticity of a typical thai beach hut and don%26#39;t mind roughing it so the type of place we are looking for shouldnt be expensive
4. Not too far from Patong so we can meet up with other mates there for NYE
5. Whever this gorgeous place might be we also want to go over to Phi Phi on the boat - where is that in comparison?
6. Best place to watch NYE fireworks %26amp; bring in the new year?

I%26#39;m not an expert, as I don%26#39;t stay in hotels in Phuket, but have you considered the Kata Beach Resort? It%26#39;s right on the beach and is a great resort.
