Chatuchak Market accommodation????

Hope your last day is on a weekend! Chatachak is a weekend market and it sort of folds up early evening. It is a ';flea market'; type place not a mall. There is some stuff there during the week days but it is not the same as the weekend.

Perhaps a nice hotel close to a Skytrain route would work out okay. This would give you easy access to Chatachak via the Skytrain and in the evening you can walk to some of the local nightlife, check out the street vendors and find a good restaurant. Sukhumvit Road and Siam are two areas with Skytrain routes.

Remember if you buy it you have to lug it to the airport or pay to ship it back home! T-shirts always work out pretty good, they don%26#39;t break and you can wrap fragile items in them.

For hotel recommendations mention your price range (a dollar value or baht value.)

Thanks for your help,

You see I will originally spend 3 nights in Bangkok in the start of my trip but descided to end my last night on the Saturday at Chatuchak. I will be travelling with my 5 year old so looking for something nice say 4 star. The last thing we want to do is walk around a hot crowded market and then have to make our way back to the hotel.

And unfortunately wont be needing any bars etc.

I found Sofitel Centura Grand but this is getting a little pricey. Perhaps someone remembers the name of one close by during there last visit.

Sofitel Centara would be the place. It is pretty close to JJ market, you probably can walk but not sure with kids and lots of bags in the heat after a long tiring day of shopping! Taxi is always around anyway.

a place in Paholyothin... Soi Ari, I think, called Reflection www.reflections-Thai.com. Rooms in this place are all individual design and decorated and I heard it was mentioned in Elle magazine in UK or something. I was considered this place but at the moment they seem to be closed. You can always email them and ask when they are going to be open again.

Hi

any hotel on the BTS or the MRT would work Siam Novotel , Asia hotel.

the MRT stations exits right into the market the BTS is

across the street.

Are you planning on takeing your 5 yr old with you shopping or leaving him at day care at hotel?

the market is very hot and crowded I don%26#39;t think a 5 yr old would last too long there. most adults have problems with the heat and crowds LOL

You can check out the Asia Hotel it is right on a Skytrain stop. This is a ';mostly'; bar free area. Not far from the Asia is New Phetchaburi Road with lots of shops, street vendors, malls and restaurants.

Some travelers want to be near nightlife, some want to avoid it, that is why there was a question about bars. Not a lot of bars around the Asia Hotel.
