Landmark or Shangri-la?

Hi,

We%26#39;re abit undecided as to which hotel to pick for our 3 nights in Bangkok next year. We like the look of these 2 but aren%26#39;t sure which location might suit us better. It%26#39;ll be our first time and we%26#39;d like to see the Grand Palace and floating markets, maybe do a river cruise, and have plenty of good food! How easy is it to find your way around Bangkok?

Landmark or Shangri-la?

Shangri-la.. off course!

Landmark or Shangri-la?

Ive heard the Shangri la is fantatsic and of very high standard - i however have stayed at the landmark twice and could not fault this hotel - the skytrain is 2 secs away, loads of places nearby to eat and drink and there are night markets every evening which we loved - picked up some real bargains. The service is amazing at the landmark and we were treated like royalty - if you go check out the massage place in the basement area they do the best foot massage - sooooo lovely when you have been stuck on a plane for 11 hours!

I really choose Shangri-la!

For what you stated you want to do and if budget isn%26#39;t an issue - then Shangri-La would be the place.

As far as finding your way around Bangkok - it is a very spread out city, but you can get a tourist map and a Skytrain map and plan where you want to go. If you decide on the Shangri-La, you can use the water taxi to go to the Grand Palace and Wat Po.

Taxis are cheap, you can go just about anywhere you want. Be prepared to sit in traffic for some time at those certain rush hour times. That%26#39;s when the Skytrain is the best option. There is also the MRT(subway) that is useful but unless you know where you%26#39;re going can be a bit confusing.

The Shangri-la is right on the river and very close to the skytrain. We upgraded to the Horizon Club and it was well worth the extra money. We did not like the Thai Restaurant at this hotel. Look into hiring a guide for a day or two. Saves alot of time and you won%26#39;t be wondering where the hell you are!!!

When we used to stay in Sukhumvit,we always stayed at the Landmark,it%26#39;s in a great location near the skytrain and has great bars and restaurants on site.We now stay near Siam Square which is close to MBK,Siam Paragon and Patpong.

Stayed at both last year, choose the shangri la.Much better hotel.

ps, always get a metred taxi, there a lot cheaper than agreeing a price.

taxi from shangri la to patpong was only about 拢1.20,but some will try to get a much higher price beforehand, just get them to turn on the metre , if they refuse, get out and get the next one that will, there are millions of cabs.

tuc tucs rip you off,and the fumes off all the traffic,is terrible have a great holiday.
