Getting from Surat Thani to Koh Lanta

Hello - we are getting off the Bangkok sleeper train at 6am on 24 Oct 07 in Surat Thani and our next destination is Layana Resort, Koh Lanta.

Can anyone advise the best way to get there? I have heard a 2 hour bus followed by water taxi? I would prefer the easiest/quickest method, even it it isn%26#39;t the cheapest.

First if you want the quickest cheapest option fly with Air Asia to Krabi then get the bus/ferry to Lanta... if you really want to take the train though, it might be better to get off at Trang. I would check the distances. Otherwise you can probably get a ticket to take you the whole way from the train station. Just ask them when you buy your ticket. That way you are guaranteed state travel rather than one of the private companies that tend to rip you off!
